About

BACKGROUND

While Internationalisation is a quite common topic of discussion in nowadays’ education, most of the times it relates to the internationalisation of the education, rather than learning about internationalisation. There is plenty of information about the internationalisation of the education, but few VET courses referring to education about internationalisation, especially firm’s internalization. Yet, internationalisation of EU countries accounts for 1/3 of the world’s exports, and especially some EU countries (Italy, Spain, France, UK) for around 20% of the world’s exports (and 56% of EU). Therefore, it is necessary for EU companies (especially SMEs) to develop policies, aiming at helping them to go through the internationalisation process effectively.

AIM

The 4 EXPORT intends to boost the internationalisation of SMEs by promoting interdisciplinary apprenticeship training and education in Europe. Interdisciplinary apprenticeship has been proven to be a key way to add to a company an innovative perspective regarding internationalization. Except for SMEs, apprentices will benefit too, as they will acquire innovative capabilities and skills, through their participation in interdisciplinary apprenticeship programmes, implemented in an international environment.

APPROACH

The project will come up with the following tangible results:

  • A Research Study and Analysis on apprenticeship schemes in Europe,  specific needs of interdisciplinary apprenticeship in countries, and role of in-company tutor
  • A Curriculum Programme for the in-company tutors, for upgrading internationalisation
  • An Interactive Web Platform
  • A Self-Directed Learning Guide for in-company tutors on internationalisation activities
