Support resources
Face-to-face
Together with the trainees, analyse the potential problems that may occur during the training. Try to find out what may go wrong and what the reasons for this may be. Use the 5-WHY method.
Example:
Resignation of the trainee from the internship
Why (1)?
He does not like the company.
Why (2)?
Because it cannot cope at work.
Why (3)?
Because he does not know what to do.
Why (4)?
Because he has not received any information on how to perform received tasks.
Why (5)?
Because he was not properly trained in the beginning.
Remember that there can be many potential causes for each of the problems.
It is best to use a large sheet of paper / flipchart, and to write down the issues discussed there.
ROLEPLAY
Try to have a conversation in which you apply the principles of proper communication. Two people will have a dialogue in which one of them will play the role of an employee trying to get a raise from the boss. The rest of the group will try to catch all the mistakes that came up in the conversation.
It may be a good idea to draw up lists with different information known only to one side. The information card may contain information on what you may agree to, for example, what amount of the increase is acceptable (e.g. from 0 – 300 Euros), the possibility of changing employees position without changing his/her salary amount, etc.
Person 1
An employee who asks for a pay rise. |
Person 2
The owner of the company. |
